We have water! First water went into the upper Las Huertas Community Ditch on Saturday, April 10 and by the following weekend water was flowing in the creek all the way to Sun Farm. The village will clean ditches April 24 - and the season begins. Author John Nichols described farming in the mountains this way: "It's a short season in the high country, wedged between spring-time snow flurries and September frosts. Vegetables that we don't dare plant until mid-May grow up paranoid, racing to reach maturity before getting mugged by an early icicle." |

Placitas lost a great friend, a talented photographer, a gentle soul, and protector of the wild horses on Thursday, March 25. David Cramer died suddenly of a massive heart attack while on a photo shoot. He was only 58. Watch his beautiful video about the wild horses here. A memorial service will be held at the Las Placitas Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 2. |
